Weekly Montana Hay Report

   Trade near steady this week.  Inquiry moderate yet.  Temps starting to warm
out of their frigid below zero lows we saw earlier in the week and melting some
of the snow we received just after Christmas across much of the state.  Demand
still doesn't seem to be more than moderate right now.  All sales FOB the stack
and per ton basis in large rounds or large square bales, unless otherwise
stated.
Alfalfa:  Supreme 95.00; Good to Premium 70.00.  Good 55.00-65.00;
Grass alfalfa mix 60.00.
Grass:  Premium small squares horse hay 115.00, large rounds 75.00; Good
large rounds and large squares 60.00-65.00; Fair quality large rounds 55.00.
Timothy:  Small squares mixed Timothy/grass 120.00.
Straw:  Wheat straw 30.00-35.00.
